R Among the elders of Sindh who worked here for the welfare of Muslims and promotion of education, the name of Hassan Ali Affandi will always be bright.

He made the great Nawabs, Raees and Zamindars realize the importance of education, took donations from them and started working for this purpose. Along with this madrassa, a hostel was also set up for students coming through two doors. Baba-e-Qaum
Muhammad Ali Jinnah also studied in this madrassa. Alhaj Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah, the first Muslim governor of Sindh, was also a student here. Later the same association also established Sindh Muslim College and Sindh Law College. Even today thousands of students are studying in these institutions.
